Landmarks

The houses in the slideshow are landmarks in my neighborhood because they are the homes of my parents. I grew up in both houses celebrating with family and enjoying holidays. Whitney M. Young is regarded as a landmark because it is my current high school and one of the best high schools located in Chicago. Moreover, the Victory Monument located in Bronzeville is a major landmark because it displays the African American men who fought in WWI. In addition, Pershing West-my middle school- is considered a landmark to me because it was the middle school I attended and graduated from in the Bronzeville community. The Harold Washington Cultural Center is a landmark in Bronzeville that hosts plays and musicals. The Operationpush Headquarters is a landmark in Chicago because it was built by civil rights activist, Jesse Jackson. Lastly,, the Dusable Museum is a landmark in Chicago because it contains exhibits that tell about black history.

In recent reports, Chile has experienced a major earthquake measuring a great magnitude of 8.3. The Northern coast of Chile was hit and caused the swaying of buildings and occurring of tsunamis in small villages. Minor quakes followed the first measuring greater than magnitude 6. Moreover, the city Illapel had experienced many houses collapsing and the electricity going out, leaving the city a huge predicament. It was also found that 3 people died due to the tsunamis in Chile.
According to Fox News Chicago, a magnitude of 8.8 quake and causing tsunami in south-central Chile in 2010 killed more than 500 people, destroyed 220,000 homes, and washed away docks, riverfronts and seaside resorts. That quake had divulged so much energy, it actually it shortened the Earth's day by a fraction of a second by changing the planet's rotation. Similarly, ABC News stated that there were tsunami waves of more than 10 feet that were observed in Coquimbo, Chile, north of Santiago. Forecasters predicted minor flooding of beach and harbor areas as well as strong and unusual currents that could continue for several hours. And CNN provided the public with a video of filmed in Chile during the earthquake.

This image shows Derrick Rose-Point Guard for the Chicago Bulls- dribbling the basketball up the court. This image is relevant to me because it represents my hometown's basketball team, and Derrick Rose is my favorite player out of my entire litany of basketball players. Additional edits (color change of basketball) made Je'Quan Sailes-Irving.

Websites that I am ardent about are Lunapic, YouTube, and Dictionary because the websites contain information and media that intrigues me and follow my interests. . Lunapic is considered one of my favorite websites because I am interested in Photoshop and have been using lunapic as a main source of completing all my Photoshop work. The website consists of a variety of effects, animation, and tools used to edit pictures and videos. Moreover, YouTube is another website that I have garnered an affinity towards due to its provision of music and videos.
